Mock Trial

On Tuesday 18 June, the Coonabarabran High School mock trial team travelled to Dubbo to compete in the final round robin trial against St Mary’s Catholic School Wellington.

Taking the role of the prosecution in an Arson case, the team conducted all elements of the trial including witnesses giving evidence, Court staff fulfilling their legal functions, and the Barristers and Solicitors arguing the case. While the team were unsuccessful in obtaining a conviction, they won the case on points against a talented and sophisticated opposition. The Coonabarabran team has now been ranked 25th in the state and will now progress to the elimination rounds of the competition.
