During week 3 of term , a group of Year 7 and 8 girls travelled to the Illawarra as part of the Sista Speak program which Mrs Alison Stanton has run , in conjunction with Ms Laurel Kuras and with students from Years 5 and 6 at Coonabarabran Public School. Many activities were enjoyed and it was a great experience for all the girls involved.
Amarlee Vallette (Year 8) and Kiarna Chatfield (Year 7) summed up the adventure:
“We did some great group activities such as stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and dolphin/whale watching. We went to the beach and had a good time. It was such a fun experience for us, and we thank Mrs Atkinson, Ms Laurel Kuras and Wes for taking us down there and back and Steve and Nicky from Illawarra for organising everything”.
Tuesday 30 October saw our Sista Speak girls board the bus to travel to the Illawarra region. The girls are from Yr 7 to Yr8 along with girls from Coonabarabran Public School Yr5 to Yr6. Whilst there, the girls have participated in a number of activities including: Leadership and Team building challenges, Cultural Activities led by Galamban. Also some fun activities; canoeing, fishing, paddle boarding and bushwalking. Big thanks to Mrs Anna Atkinson, Miss Laurel Kuras(AEO) and Mr Wes Leedham for giving the Sista Girls this experience and Mrs Alison Stanton (AEO) in helping with the organisation.
