The Year 11 Debating team – Vance McDonald, Alishea Rankin, Jordan Dicks, Jacob Bonello, Molly Shannon, Larni Smith, Heaven-Leigh McAway-Davis – have now contested two debates throughout the last few months, with the chance at a regional final.
Our first debate was against Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School – arguing that school sports should be replaced by organised exercise classes – with a team of Vance, Alishea, Jacob and Jordan, and we were victorious.
Our second debate was against Armidale Secondary College – arguing that journalists should be compelled to reveal their sources – with a team of Molly, Larni, Alishea and Heaven-Leigh, and although we fought valiantly, bringing up many points, we were defeated in that debate.
All is not lost however! Some debates in the region are still ongoing, and Coonabarabran High School has a great chance at a regional final. We will keep you posted on the antics of this great bunch of debaters.
